Did you know that approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease each year?

In fact, nearly 1 million people in the United States — and more than 10 million worldwide — are currently living with Parkinson’s Disease. Chances are, you know someone who has it, or knew someone who did.

I sure do.

My father-in-law is currently battling Parkinson’s, and my late grandfather had it as well.

According to Parkinsons.org, Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world. While there are treatments that can help those affected maintain a quality of life, there is currently no cure for Parkinson’s. Experts are optimistic about finding a cure, but it takes funding for continued research.

Therefore, from now through Friday, Oct. 9, a portion of the proceeds from all orders through our website will be donated to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

This includes our BBQ rubs, rub sets, hot sauce, bourbon barrel wood chunks, and branded merch.

Why now?

My brother-in-law, Kent Barnes, is running the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Oct. 10. He’s running with the Parkinson’s Champions race team, which raises money for the Parkinson’s Foundation because his dad (my father-in-law) is currently battling Parkinson’s.

“My job is easy — all I have to do is run,” he said. “Those with Parkinson’s and their support team face greater challenges every day. I’m honored to run for them.

“I ask you to join me in the fight against Parkinson’s and fight for new treatments and research that will lead to a cure. I ask you to support the Parkinson’s Foundation, which makes life better for people living with Parkinson’s disease by improving care and advancing research toward a cure.”

We will make one lump donation on Oct. 9 based on all orders received. Please help us continue the fight against Parkinson’s. Would you rather donate straight to the cause? You can do so here.
