Congratulations to @jes.smyth on release day of her second(!) book!

I`m excited to dive into this one. While it`s way outside my typical reading genre (spy fiction), I really enjoyed her first one because it`s great writing and a highly engaging story that`s hard to put down, and that`s always something I can appreciate. She develops relatable characters like a seasoned veteran....which I guess she is now that she has 2 books published!

If you enjoy reading, I highly recommend starting with her first book, Time for Once, and then reading this one.

Ramp pesto pasta with pancetta. 🤩

My neighbor brought us some ramps that he foraged in Wisconsin, so I had to put them to good use!

Made a pesto with blanched ramps, pistachios, freshly grated parmesan, garlic, and olive oil. The flavors were amazing.

Still have a bunch left. Going to pickle the bulbs and make some ramp butter. Any other ideas?

I`ve been craving homemade French onion soup recently, so I made it on Sunday and it was fantastic.

Slow sautéed 4 white onions in butter, brown sugar, @blacksheepgastronomy worcestershire sauce, and our upcoming beef rub, very low and slow for about an hour. Added them to a crockpot (while I was coaching a soccer game) along with 64oz beef bone broth and fresh thyme. Also sautéed and added some mushrooms (yep, I don`t care that they don`t normally go in French onion soup).

After cooking on low for a few hours, sliced some French bread, topped with truffle gruyere cheese, Swiss cheese, and parmesan cheese, then broiled and added to each bowl of soup. Topped with more cheese and crispy onions for crunch.

Shrimp & grits for dinner! You know we love those @marshhenmill grits, and the Guinea Flint variety was calling my name tonight.

Sautéed some shrimp seasoned with @meatchurch Blanco in some butter, garlic, and lemon juice. Once it was cooked, added some roasted red peppers, heavy cream, and fortified wine. Let it thicken up a bit and then spooned over the grits, topped with green onions. Absolutely delish.
